Tickets bought before the Blues in the Night were $15, however the cost at the door is $20.
Soloist Rebekah Ross said, “Knowing it’s my last ‘Blues in the Night’ is definitely a hard thing to accept. My first one was in eighth grade, and though I wasn’t in the jazz band my freshman and sophomore year, just trying to accept those lasts such as this final performance is really difficult. Jazz is my favorite genre to play on my trumpet. I’m definitely gonna miss it.”
Ross has two solos during the night. One of them is in the song “Buckjump.”
“My solo in ‘Buckjump’ is my absolute favorite. It’s really groovy and a lot of others in the band enjoy it as well. It’s also nice because I have it memorized, and it originally was a trombone solo,” Ross added.
Another soloist is Blake Ferman. “I have a lot of family coming to see me, including my parents, brothers, cousins, and grandparents. I’m very excited that they are all going to make it and have a never ending gratitude and support. This will be an emotional performance for me, being my last ‘Blues in the Night’ performance, But I am still going to go at it with a great attitude, and I am going to play my heart out,” said Ferman.
Ferman has one solo this Saturday in the song “Blackstone Blues.” He stated that he plans to improvise it with chord changes to see what happens.
