Tyler, The Creator’s newest album, CHROMAKOPIA, broke the world of music on October 28th 2024. After marinating for two weeks the album gathered over a billion plays across Spotify and Apple Music.
The CHROMAKOPIA album is a deep look into Tyler’s personal life and his issues both mentally and physically. Tyler dives deep into his commitment issues and with songs like “Darling, I”, he dives even deeper regarding his absent father with the song “Like Him”. His constant paranoia is featured in “Noid”. “Noid” in particular is one of the most popular songs on the album besides the album opener “St. Chroma.”
When CHROMAKOPIA was announced, excitement around the world was very prominent. More locally, however, the album has taken over St. Louis High School with many students posting videos to audios from the album or Instagram notes and stories with some of the songs. One of the students involved in this craze, junior Benjamin Godfrey, was very excited about the new release. Other students claim Godfrey sounded like an advertisement for the new album due to his excitement for “Noid” when it was teased. According to Godfrey, “I’ve listened to the CHROMAKOPIA album a lot and I love it. I really like the story behind it, and think it is really interesting.”
Sophomore Lilly Mann stated that she, “Really liked the album. I think it was really cool and my favorite song was ‘Like Him’.”
Tyler’s newest album is sweeping through the world and SLHS with a massive portion of the school tuning in to listen.
