There’s debate as old as time regarding which season is really the best for sports. Everyone knows about the fall, winter, spring, and summer seasons, but which of these seasons truly holds the best sports to both watch and/or play?
Many different sports are played throughout the year in their respective seasons. For example, football and cross country are in the fall season; on the other hand, spring sports may include golf, track and field, and baseball.
Remington Snyder shared his thoughts regarding the best sports season: “It’s spring because watching and playing baseball is enjoyable, and I love going to the Detroit Tigers games. There’s also track too which is fun to watch,” he said.
Aside from track and baseball, spring is also the season for our school’s softball season. Senior Morgan Leonard claimed, “I would choose spring to be the best season because that’s when softball is, and it has been a part of me my entire life. I have great memories with the team, and winning districts at this time of the year. Also, spring is when the warmer weather picks up again, so that’s pretty nice for these sports too.”
Although spring seems to be a great contender for the best sports season, not all students at St. Louis share this opinion. Brynn Saxton thinks, “… fall is the best season for sports because of football season. It’s fun to participate in student sections because they have creative themes that bring the energy to the students and players.”
“Winter is nice because it’s better being sweaty in the cold than in the heat. Also, basketball is during the winter and wrestling is too; those are like the two most interesting sports to watch,” stated Hayden Shattuck, a true fan of the winter seasons.
It seems many students at SLHS have differing thoughts about the true best season for sports. However, there’s always a viable argument that can be made for each of the respective seasons.
