Despite being just recently launched Sept. 16, 2024, Lunchly, a brand of snack kits created by YouTubers KSI, MrBeast, and Logan Paul, has amounted to multiple controversies since its announcement.
The lunch kits, which their creators claim are a healthier alternative to other lunch options, come with basic foods such as turkey with cheese and crackers, nachos with salsa and cheese, and pizza. They also include the pre-existing products Prime and Feastables. However, the claim that Lunchly has a higher nutritional value has been challenged as the Lunchly website does not hold the sodium content of the kit.
The biggest allegation facing the Lunchly brand is evidence of mold being found in the kits after multiple videos of buyers reviewing the product were posted on social media sites like TikTok. Despite the clear evidence in these videos, Lunchly responded in a statement to the Daily Mail, saying, “All Lunchly products go through a stringent review process to ensure the quality and safety of its products. That process consists of multiple inspections and approvals, including that of the USDA, before any product can even leave the manufacturing facility.” Social Media influencer and co-creator of the Lunchly brand, Logan Paul, also responded by stating, “USDA inspects every finished food lot and approves it before even leaving (Lunchly’s) facility.”
Junior Ben Godfrey also commented on the Lunchly kits, saying, “When I heard about them at first, I thought they were funny and stupid because things like that already exist.” He also stated, “I also think the mold thing is gross, and I wouldn’t eat them.”
Lunchly has faced many rumors of discontinuation. However, this has been neither confirmed nor denied by the FDA or the Lunchly brand.
