St. Louis varsity girl’s volleyball played the last home game of the season Oct. 23, against Shepherd resulting in an unfortunate loss.
This was a very emotional game, as Sophomore Skyler Post, Juniors Olivia Coffin, and Saige Chase wrote speeches for the seniors on the team. The Sharks lost the first set but came back in the second. Unfortunately, they fell short to the Blue Jays, three sets to one.
Senior Zoey Clarke was very emotional about the game. She shared, “It made me really sad to think that it was the last time we were going to play in our home gym with my best friends. It was just like a full-circle moment.”
Another emotional player was Post. She shared, “Senior night was an extremely emotional night. Three of my best friends were leaving and we were playing a tough team, Shepherd. Unfortunately, we lost but we played extremely well, so I’m proud of us regardless, and I’m going to miss them.”
Senior Brynn Saxton also added, “Senior night was very bittersweet. Going on the court knowing it would be my last time playing volleyball at home was upsetting. However, before we played, Skyler Post gave a very heartfelt speech which made the moment sweeter. Even though it was a loss, it’s still going to be tough leaving the court with all those memories.”
The student section was packed and lively. According to senior Annabelle Breen, “The student section was honestly so much fun. Everyone was cheering the team on and making jokes. It was overall an enjoyable environment and everyone was having a great time cheering on our team.”
