Black Ops 6 released October 25, 2024 with 57,000 people playing the second it hit the market. And within the first few days, it exploded with 3 million unique people playing the weekend after release according to Steam’s player data system. On top of the player count, many believe it to have the most fun versions of its modes that has come to be expected from the Black Ops games: zombies, multiplayer, and campaign.
Senior Blake Ferman, a very avid gamer in the Call of Duty franchise, believes it to be, “An absolute blast so far. The weapons and new movement system feels great,” The omni-directional movement introduced in Black Ops 6 is an industry first, where players are able to slide and jump in any direction. The new movement has the game feeling fresh and brand new for older and more recent players. For example Junior Benjamin Godfrey, who played the older Call of Duty games when he was younger loved playing with the new movement and gameplay in the newest installment. Ferman also mentioned how, “the game captures that ‘action hero’ feel from the original black ops games.”
Ferman continued with , “Round based zombies is back, and I think it’s way better than it has been in recent titles.” With round based zombies back, many players including Ferman are very excited. The zombies game mode in Black Ops 6 has been compared to previous games like Cold War which players enjoyed. For example, Senior Landon Pestrue loved, “The cold war zombies from the previous game, and essentially being similar in the next game, I just know it’s going to be good.”
The new Call of Duty Black Ops game is making rounds around SLHS and the world with students like Ferman and Godfrey excited to get out of class to play the new game as soon as they get home. It is no doubt one of the best released games in recent years with reviews from critics and students being the most positive about the franchise in years.
