We all know the activity of trick-or-treating, where children dress up in various costumes and go from door to door asking for candy. This however begs the question: at what age is it unacceptable to trick-or-treat?
For example, students like junior Halle Hoyt believe even 13 is too old to be trick-or-treating. According to Hoyt, “I believe 13 is when you should stop trick-or-treating because now you’re a teenager and you’re not really a kid anymore.”
On the other hand, students like junior Parker Wonch believe that adulthood is when you should ultimately stop trick-or-treating. According to Wonch, “I think that 18 or older is too old for trick-or-treating. This is because adults should not be taking candy from adults, they should have to buy their own.” Additionally, senior Lauren Devine shared, “I think once you’re 18, you’re too old to trick-or-treat because at that point you’re an adult. I feel adults should not be taking advantage of other adults and taking candy meant for children.” Senior Brynn Saxton also shared, “I think when you reach 18 years old, you shouldn’t trick-or-treat anymore. Just hand out candy because you are an adult. By then, you already had your fair share of trick-or-treating.”
There are also students like senior Elizabeth Burt who believe there is no age limit on trick-or-treating. According to Burt, “I think that you are never too old to trick-or-treat because everyone deserves free candy, and it is fun to dress up, and I like to go with my little cousin.”
Whether you believe that there is a limit or not on how young you need to be to trick-or-treat, Halloween is still an eventful time with various activities to enjoy.
