The St. Louis High School sophomore class took a trip to Saginaw Valley State University for a career fair Friday, Oct. 11, for a half day to explore different opportunities for various careers.
Sophomore Grace Devine said, “The trip to SVSU was a very fun and interesting experience. I learned a lot about different jobs and what they do, which I liked a lot.” She also said, “My all time favorite job I learned about was covenant nursing. I liked it because I learned how to make a tourniquet and to stop bleeding. I also liked the jobs Pioneer Sugar and physical therapy.”
Another student, Courtney VanAlstine, went on the trip and said, “I thought the trip was pretty cool, and there were a ton of cool jobs that I got to learn about. The two best stations in my opinion were where I got to pack sugar, which was a race between my friends and I, and also the one where I got to learn how to change a tire and then I got to try it myself.”
Additionally, sophomore Ashleigh Devine said, “The trip was very fun and I enjoyed seeing all the different interesting jobs that were there.” She added, “My favorite jobs were the physical therapy station and the nursing station. Those jobs interested me because I might want to go into physical therapy and maybe nursing as my career in the future.”
Overall, It would be safe to say that most of the sophomores enjoyed the career fair at SVSU. It sounded like they all had a great time and found jobs that they were interested in.
