As the seasons change from summer to fall at St. Louis High School, so do the snacks of the seasons. Moving away from the refreshing snacks of the summer, fall moves us into a whole other realm of flavors.
With fall coming, a bunch of foods come into their ripening season, and the cold weather in general asks for something new, which grants students at SLHS the opportunity to indulge in more options.
Starting off on the sweeter side of things, Sophomore Remington Snyder loves the seasonal introduction of apple cider and donuts in the Fall: “Apple cider is so delicious. Having that with donuts on the side, and then washing them down with apple cider is the best taste ever. The regular donuts are better because you get more donut with it … the donut holes are dry and don’t taste as good,” Snyder commented.
Aside from apples being a large part of the ripening season, we cannot forget about the pumpkins. “My favorite Fall snack is my mom’s creamy homemade pumpkin dip, but only if I’m eating it with vanilla wafers. It’s orange and tastes like pumpkin, making it perfect for Fall, but most importantly it has no lack of taste,” stated junior Parker Wonch.
“My favorite fall snack is the pumpkin roll because it’s really good, filled with cream cheese filling, and reminds me of Halloween,” said Zoey Clark, a big fan of the pumpkin season.
Junior Bentley Inbody also had his thoughts on the best fall snacks: “I like chocolate covered pretzels because they’re a sweet and salty flavor. Caramel apple suckers are good too because they remind me of fall … it’s caramel and an apple in a sucker.”
Whether it’s because of memories or simply being in-season, SLHS students all have different options for the snacks they love in the fall season.
