St. Louis High School hosted “Donuts With Dads,” 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday Oct. 9. Any male caregiver was welcome to enjoy a moment with their child while also enjoying donuts and coffee.
Many students like senior Justin Rodriguez think this was a great opportunity. He said, “I feel like it is a very good opportunity because you get to spend some time with your father figure. Many people don’t spend enough time with their father figures, so this is a great opportunity.” This was, in fact, a great chance to spend time with a male role model, as students got out of class and fathers left work to bond with their students and get free donuts.
It was not just students but teachers who also found donuts with dads a great opportunity for fathers to get involved in their children’s academics. According to Mr. Albano, “I love the idea of ‘Donuts With Dads’. I remember my family, my dad was never involved in the education process, that was mom’s job. So I love the idea of bringing dads into the school to have some donuts and get caught up to speed.”
According to senior Zoey Clarke, “I feel like Donuts With Dads is a very cool opportunity for people who want to connect with their dad on a deeper level and spend time with their father. But I also think that it is hard for the people who don’t have a father figure in their life because they feel left out.”
Moms will have an opportunity to come in and spend time with their children as an event for female role models is currently in the planning phase.
