St. Louis High School students have recently started selling Shark cards, which provide deals for places around St. Louis. There are rewards if students sell a certain amount of Shark cards such as: if a student sells five, then he or she gets an athletic pass; sell ten and get an athletic pass for sporting events and a customized sweatshirt.
Sophomore Karli Hardy stated, “Shark cards are a great way to raise money and can be very useful.” She added, “The Shark cards can be expensive to buy, but overall it is worth it because they can be used for a lot of different places and last a while.”
Another student, junior Mylianna Wheeler, said, “As an underclassman I sold Shark cards, and it was really fun to go around and try to sell them.” Wheeler continued, “It is an amazing experience.”
The last student, junior Elijah Shuart, said, “I think the Shark cards are expensive, and I would personally not buy them.” He then said, “I could get similar coupons in the mail for free so I would not buy them.”
Overall, the purpose behind the Shark cards are to raise much-needed funds for all of SLHS athletic programs, and come in handy at local businesses. Shark cards are $20 and can be purchased from an SLHS student. The cards contain numerous coupons of all sorts for local businesses.
