The St. Louis Sharks football team won their game with an outstanding score of 31-6 during their match in Farwell, Sep. 20.
As this football season continues, it seems that the St. Louis varsity football team has found their winning spirit and took it to a Farwell and crushed the competition. This win was the teams second win of the season giving them a total of 2 wins and 2 loses. Javier Anger, a defensive end and offensive fullback, stated, “Starting the game we had a very tough defensive drive, not allowing any points and many tackles for loss. I feel like that along with our offense punching in 6 very early, set the tone.”
The sharks started strong in the first quarter with 6 points. Cayden Conklin, Wing/Corner Jr. stated, “We started very explosive on offense with a touchdown on the first play. Our defense was getting sacks all night flying around the QB” during the second quarter the team gained another 17 points giving them a high lead.
During the third quarter it was a nail biter, meaning that neither team were scoring. Quarterback Drew Challender stated, “Our plan on offensive was the 0 line had to drive their opposing opponent and the backs had hit the holes”
As the game progressed into its final quarter, Farwell scored 6 points but this did not stop the sharks from scoring. With another 8 points, the SLHS football team took the win. Tight end and punter, Ryder Siefka, stated, “The key to beating Farewell was watching a whole lot of film and getting the “cheat codes” from Mr. Brock”
The next varsity football game will fall tomorrow against Harrison, Friday, Sep. 27th, where our sharks will be ready to score another win.
