For years the students of St. Louis have had to rush themselves to get to class on time. With passing time being so short, there is little time to do basic things such as using the restroom or getting this from his or her locker.
Many students feel that the passing time needs to be longer. Senior Maddox Cline stated, “Passing time should be longer because students should have time to socialize and use the restroom before class so that they don’t have to leave in class because teachers usually say we should utilize passing time.”
However, these are not the only concerns of students. According to freshman Keeton Abell, “I get so stressed out when I can’t make it to class on time, and I’m always rushing to do my bell work. I wish we had a longer passing time so I could grab my stuff from my locker.”
Almost all students at St. Louis agree that the passing time should be increased to five minutes instead of the measly four minutes that are currently instated. Students should have the opportunity to use the restroom during passing time without having the consequences of being tardy. Students should not have to worry about ruining their attendance when just going to get a book for their class.
Freshman Cole Grollimund shared his struggles, “Passing time should be longer because when going upstairs, there are some kids bigger and some smaller in the stairwell, and you can’t always pass them. It takes a while to get to classes. When you go to history class you have to carry like eight things, so you drop them off and get more things from your locker.”
