Volleybuff and Powderpuff have a big influence during homecoming week.
Powderpuff is where the girls in SLHS play football against each other. They are separated by grades so the freshmen and seniors go against the juniors and sophomores. Volleybuff is where the boys of SLHS play volleyball against each other which is separated by grades.
This year the winners for volleybuff were the 2025 senior class. “Volleybuff this year was a lot more exciting than I had expected. One remarkable thing that happened is that we only lost one game, and never let that stop us from winning it all,” said senior Landon Pestrue. “When us seniors ended up winning, I was ecstatic. Our grade had never won the volleybuff championship up until that very point. I guess we saved our best performance for last. I feel that this last game was the best one to go out on. Nothing is better than leaving your school in your final year by winning the whole tournament,” he added.
The winners for Powderpuff were the sophomores and juniors of SLHS. “ Powderpuff was really fun! There wasn’t anything remarkable that happened other than the fact that we beat the seniors/freshmen,” said Skyler Post. “ It felt amazing to win. To be honest, going into it I didn’t know if we were going to win, but we did.” Post also states that she wouldn’t want to redo this match at all because of their win.
Volleybuff and Powderpuff are very fun and enjoyable games for students during the homecoming week. Everyone loved getting fired up and ready to win for their class. Hopefully next year will be as exciting and remarkable as this year was.
