This next Super Bowl is said to take place at the Caesars Superdome stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, Feb. 9, 2025. It’s going to be streaming only on FOX. But that’s not what everyone is talking about, for the real interest seems to lie in who will perform during the half-time show. That being Kendrick Lamar.
Kendrick Lamar, a well-known rapper/artist who, although was already relatively famous, made a big name for himself earlier this year releasing his number-one hit. If you’re not aware of the situation, which is unlikely due to it being so talked about both at the time and to this day, Lamar released multiple diss tracks against another well-known artist, Drake. After going back and forth between songs, the majority agreed that Lamar easily won any kind of competition there was between the two.
Junior Leia Firman stated “I am kind of excited that he is performing. I only watch the Superbowl for halftime anyway.” Furthermore, she shared, “I first heard his music while watching TikTok. It was the song ‘United in Grief.’”
No matter who you think won, most people can agree that Lamar is an inspiring artist. That’s why so many people are freaking out about him performing next year at the Super Bowl. With that being said, it’s not like it’s the man’s first rodeo. In 2022 he also performed during half-time, so it’s already a familiar playing field for him.
I don’t watch the Superbowl and therefore don’t care. However, according to the New York Times article titled “Why Some People Are Criticizing the Choice of Kendrick Lamar to Headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” there are fans of the game who believe the wrong decision was made. Although it’s never been much of a trend for Superbowl artists to be from the place the game is taking place, some fans think Lil Wayne would have made more sense with him being from New Orleans.
