Phone applications update and change frequently, and over time that could also be said about peoples opinions on the apps.
A lot of peoples opinions differ when it comes to social media apps. According to David Curry, the author of the article “Most Popular Apps (2024)” “Instagram had 696 downloads, TikTok had 654 downloads, and Facebook had 553 downloads.” These three apps, most commonly used in the United states, have positive reviews and negative given opinions.
Facebook is a very commonly used app, and adults are usually the most likely to use it, but there are kids that use it as well. “I find the community to be actually very helpful. I get that there are old people, parents, and probably kids there, but I haven’t seen anything toxic or bad about it,” stated Skylar DuBois-Kleinhans. He also said, “I believe the only good thing that comes out of Facebook is that I can see if there are any updates. I don’t use it that often, but at the same time, I do a casual scroll to see if anything interesting or new is there.”
TikTok is the second most downloaded social media app, and is where people watch and make 90-second videos for the public to see. A lot of people do not really like the community because of its toxicity. “Oh my gosh. I don’t think there’s anything that comes out of using TikTok besides entertainment,” said Scottlyn Francisco. “There are some good people out there like influencers and then there are also people that are just so fake, like body image and stuff.”
Instagram has the most downloads on the list and allows users to post pictures and watch videos or “reels” as they are called on the app. A good majority of people prefer Instagram over TikTok. “I prefer Instagram because I get more funny and relatable videos on it,” said Elliot Carter. “I get a good laugh from time to time, and I can share videos with my friends. The community can be a bit toxic, but most of the time it’s okay.”
Though opinions vary, a lot of people really like to use these apps. A lot of people’s experiences with the apps are different, but overall, applications provide entertainment for everyone.
