Mr. Passalacqua, St. Louis High School’s new athletic director and math teacher, is a part of the new staff of the 2024-2025 year.
When asked why he chose to work at SLHS he stated, “ First and foremost, I chose St. Louis because it felt like the best fit for me within the St. Louis community. Also, I must mention that I have some familiarity with the administration at St. Louis Schools. In the past, I had the opportunity to work directly with Mr. Brock while we were both working in Shepherd Schools, and that opportunity allowed me the opportunity to work with Ms. McKittrick at educational events at the Gratiot Isabella RESD.”
He added, “The school’s values and goals are in direct alignment with those that I have for myself. I believe in fostering a strong sense of belonging for both students and staff. Also, I believe that my skill set will allow me to make a smooth transition within the mathematics department, the athletic department and within the community. Finally, due to the fact that the school offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities was a significant reason for me choosing St. Louis Schools.”
Students speak very highly of Mr. Passalacqua. In fact Noah Bobzien said, “Me personally, I really think Mr. Passalacqua truly fits as a member of the sharks. I really like his teaching style and I feel like he really cares about my education. So, all in all, I really enjoy Mr. Passalacqua as a teacher.”
His position in SLHS is very important to the high school. As the new Algebra II teacher, he will be teaching a mix of sophomore and junior classes. When asked how he felt about being both a teacher and athletic director, Passalacqua stated, “I am learning new things everyday, so that is fun. However, I do feel like I have a lot more to learn. I have to be very organized to try and stay on top of everything. That is the biggest challenge so far.”
Passalacqua has enjoyed his time here so far and the students enjoy his teaching as well. Hopefully, SLHS will be a great experience for Mr. Passalacqua and the students of SLHS.
