Homecoming is approaching quickly, featuring numerous activities on spirit days, sports games, and the 2024 homecoming dance throughout the week of Sept. 9.
Spirit days are an important part of the homecoming spirit, people get to dress up and go with the theme of the day. Starting Monday, the theme will be “Dress to Unimpress”, where students can dress in a wacky way, or show up wearing their own pajamas. Continuing the next day which is Tuesday, which is “Wild West vs West Coast”, either dressing like a cowboy/cowgirl or wearing beach attire. Wednesday is dress like a business person on the top, while partying on the bottom. Thursday is mystery mania, where students can dress up as a detective, monster, or an unsolved case for a puzzlingly good time. Last but not least, Friday is red and black, to show school spirit for the homecoming football game.
Student Council adviser, Mrs. Kaiser said, “I had some ideas in the past that I had come up with and pitched to our student council kids. I have seen what other schools have done and pitched ideas for how we can make those traditions our own at St. Louis. We revamped old traditions as well. I don’t think coming up with ideas was difficult, it was more making them happen on short notice.”
The annual homecoming games will be around the corner sooner or later, featuring Powderpuff on Monday and Volleybuff on Tuesday. During Powderpuff, girls will be playing in a football game, with freshmen and seniors pairing against the sophomores and juniors. On the other hand, Volleybuff will be guys in different grades playing each other in tournament style matches.
The homecoming dance, Saturday, Sept. 14, will take place in the cafeteria at 8:00 p.m., where students can dance their hearts away while jamming to amazing songs. The theme for this year is masquerade, where students wear masks to go with the theme. “The overall theme had already been voted on last year before I became advisor. That was very nice to already have that in place,” said Mrs. Kaiser. “It has been a lot of work to get everything planned, approved, and advertised out to students with the homecoming date being so early in the year this year. It is especially difficult to get students pumped up and in the homecoming spirit when they are still trying to get into the swing of school and learning new routines.”
As the homecoming festivities are just around the corner, students are preparing for a week of fun filled spirit activities!
