The varsity track team competed at regionals, May 16, in Bath. The varsity girls team placed second overall in the division, and the boys varsity ran their hardest but fell to 13th placed.
After many hard practices, the girls’ track did amazing in the end. The 4×100 of Brianna Griffin, Emalee Acre, Riley King-Winters, and Natalee Hoyt placed second with a time of 52.11 seconds. This record earned them a trip to state. Later in the day when it came to pole vault, Natalee Hoyt took first place with a vault of 9’ feet 9” inches. In the shot put, Tess Farkas came out in first place with a distance of 33 feet and 11.5 inches. On the boys side, Landon Pesture and Ben March each qualified for the state in the meter runs. When it came to the 1600 meter, Landon Pestrue placed second.
Some of the players have a chance to go to state finals and are as follows. Landon Pesture in the 1600 meter run, Tess Farkas in shot put, and Natalee Hoyt in pole vault. Ben March for the 3200 meter run, but Ben March, Landon Pestrue, Alex Rodriguez, and Hayden Shattuck in the 4×800 relay, and of course the 4×100 team of Emalee Acre, Brianna Griffin, Riley King-Winters, and Natalee Hoyt.
Although most of the track teams are officially done, the MHSAA State Finals are approaching , June 1, at Kent City High School.
