The St Louis High School Student Council hosted the Moving Up Assembly, May 17, at Wheeler Field, which consisted of a variety of games, but most importantly, congratulating those who moved up into a new grade!
At the start of the assembly, the students were introduced to the first game, Bucket Swap, where the teams were given a color that they needed to swap in order to win the game. Throughout the assembly, a variety of students gave speeches for the new seniors and freshmen, and the teachers gave out advice to those who graduated. After the speeches, the students had sadly said goodbye to the seniors who were graduating. A while later, students moved up in the bleachers, as the class of 2025 are seniors, 2026 are juniors, 2027 are sophomores, and 2028 are freshmen.
Junior Rebekah Ross openly expressed her opinion about the assembly, saying “I think the assembly was one of the smoothest I have ever helped work. I think it went amazing and I heard a lot of good things from it. The only problem I encountered was when we were trying to decide what game to use first.” Another opinion is from Sophomore Gracie Lombard. She stated, “The assembly was pretty fun. I liked watching the messy twister game, but the game lasted way too long. I felt like the advice from Utah was really good. He made the students get more involved in the assembly by telling us to raise our hands, and I thought that was really funny. Curtis’ speech on the other hand was good, but most of the speech I heard was from BPA.”
The assembly was a good way to say goodbye to the seniors as they departed to their adult life, some going into colleges and others planning on going into the workforce. Everyone enjoyed the assembly and what it had to offer, but the class of 2024 has finally graduated with the class of 2025 being the next seniors.
