Hannah Bobzien received the ACE Scholarship, which covers full tuition, from Alma College May 3, 2024.
This prestigious scholarship was given out to 15 seniors across Gratiot, Isabella, and Montcalm Counties. According to the criteria, the college selects the “most engaged students who desire to pursue a life-changing, liberal arts education.” Bobzien was the only St. Louis High School senior who received this award.
Bobzien has been an active member at SLHS, and she plans to continue that throughout her time in college. She is an active member of the jazz, steel, and concert bands. Additionally, she has been a member of her club soccer team for multiple years. She stated, “I am going to school for early education. I am going to be on the Alma College soccer team as well as any community clubs I can get into.”
Scholarships help support students’ education, and Bobzien knew she had to perfect it in order to be considered for the full tuition prize. She mentioned, “For this scholarship, I shared my experiences in my community and the fact my favorite soccer club that I have been a part of for 10 years is shutting down in a year or two. I believe I was selected because I have a game plan on how I can contribute to my community, and how I would be a great representative of Alma College!”
Being a dedicated member of a community not only takes hard work, but passion as well. Senior Lauren Gager has been a classmate of Bobzien since kindergarten. She commented on her accomplishments stating, “When she first found out about her scholarship, she was crying in English. I was wondering what was wrong, but then she said she got the scholarship. I think it is so amazing and very impressive! She does a lot, and her hard work paid off.”
Bobzien will be starting her college endeavors in the fall where she will officially be considered an Alma Scot!
