The Sharks’ Varsity softball team had two games the week of April 24, 2024 as they hosted a double hitter against the Bullock Creek Lancers and the Harrison Hornets that Monday. That Friday, the junior varsity team competed at Harrison against the Hornets.
Game one the Sharks unfortunately lost to the Lancers 11-1 and game two they lost 8-2.
Paige Luneack was on the mound in the first game, and Monika Borie pitched for the Sharks second game.
Game one for the Sharks Varsity against the Harrison Hornets was a 14-4 victory,
and then game two the Sharks finished their day off strong winning 16-6.
Luneack pitched the first game against the Hornets, and thought she did okay, but she knows she could have done better. She kept it positive throughout the game and came in clutch at the end. Luneack said, “Monika also pitched really well which helped out a lot. Luneack also added how her batting was really well, and she keeps improving on offense and defense. Luneack feels like she still needs to work staying confident on the mound the whole game because she walked one or two hitters and got down on herself and it affected how she pitched.
In game one for the junior varsity team, the Sharks started the night off strong beating the Hornets 22-5 and in game two the Sharks finished the day off strong beating the Hornets
Skyler Post thought the team did well the first game against the Hornets but wished they did better the second game. Post said, “Something I wish that I would’ve done better at would be my fielding, and I wish our team kept their heads up after a mistake.” Post also added how the team plays well together but getting in their heads really affects how they play as a team.
Junior varsity will be back in action May 3, 2024 at home against the Yellow Jackets of Ithca and the Varsity softball team will compete May 2, 2024 at home against Farwell.
