The St. Louis junior class hosted a starry night prom, which was held at Youth for Christ April 20, 2024.
With prom being one of the most sought-after events of the year, the class of 2025 and their advisors had some high expectations to live up to. Many students believe they exceeded those standards. A few star pieces of the prom were the food catered by El Vaquero, couples’ pictures, a photo booth, music, and the moon wall.
With this being the last prom for many, there were high hopes for this particular school dance. One student who was expecting nothing less than bliss was senior Lauren Gager. She stated, “I would have to say pictures were freezing, but for prom itself, it was amazing. I loved the food, the DJ was great, and the photo booth was a 10/10.”
An advisor who helped put on the dance was Mr. Kuhn. He commented, “What Mrs. Biehl and I were most proud of was the level of student participation and enthusiasm. At first, we had some concerns with the DJ on whether or not he would be in touch with today’s youth in terms of what they want to hear, but he exceeded our expectations.” He was sure to note that he was not the only teacher who helped plan prom stating, “Mrs. Biehl did a lot for prom. I feel like I didn’t put as much into it as she did.” It should be noted that the students on the prom committee did a lot for prom, but the advisors tremendously helped in creating the picture-perfect dance.
Kuhn also assured that there was no tampering with the votes for Prom Prince. He mentioned, “I did not collect or count votes for prom prince or princess. It was all Ms. BG because she likes to be the official rule follower and ballot counter.” However, he felt like the recipient, Colin Kuhn, was deserving of the crown.
Although prom was filled with good food, fun photos, and excellent dance moves, there is an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. While the Macarena was playing, sophomore Tiger Russell was jumping up one second and was on the floor the next. Brighton Buchanan, a student in attendance at the dance, was baffled by the situation, referring to it as the “Macarena Mishap”. He stated, “I was genuinely concerned for him. I thought that he might have injured his knee. My advice to avoid injury would be, ‘Don’t be too ferocious on the dance floor.’”
At the next school dance be sure to take lots of pictures, get down on the dance floor, and wear knee braces during the Macarena.
