The class of 2024’s top three students took a trip to Saginaw Valley State University to celebrate their accomplishments April 16, 2024.
The three individuals who attended the banquet included Curtis Brashaw, Rowan Harris, and Myah Pitcher. These three students have maintained a high academic standard throughout their four years of high school which secured their ticket to this banquet. The banquet consisted of the top three students from 18 Mid-Michigan schools. The students had lunch at SVSU, and shortly after, each principal from each school took the stage to announce the accomplished students.
Brashaw is the St. Louis valedictorian of the class of 2024, which he achieved through hours of hard work. He stated, “The banquet was really nice and I am grateful for Mr. Brock and his kind words when announcing us. I am so honored to be in the top three and the valedictorian.” Additionally, Harris, the salutatorian of the class, stated, “It was very nice to be recognized as top three. I felt confident when I was going out there accepting my award, and I had a lot of fun.” Although the banquet was fun, it was just one small payment for her hard work in maintaining a high prestige throughout high school. She went on to mention, “My parents have always pushed me to have such a high academic standard, and from a young age that turned me into having that standard for myself. I would always push myself to be the best. If I had one B that wasn’t enough, that had to be an A.”
With a third-place finish in the class, Pitcher was honored to attend the banquet at SVSU as well. She commented, “It feels really great to be recognized as top three. It’s nice for all of the work I’ve put in to be seen by a lot of other schools, and vice versa. I know that everyone at the banquet worked hard to get where they are, so it was an overall great experience to go to the banquet.”
Brashaw, Harris, and Pitcher have more recognitions to come with the Top Ten Tea taking place April 25, 2024.
