As the anticipation grows day after day, and whispers of elegant gowns and dapper suits fill the halls, it’s clear to the students of St. Louis High School that Prom is more than just some silly dance- it’s to be a grand spectacle. From nervous proposals to elaborate promposals, from secret crushes, to lifelong friendships forged on the dance floor, as well as the deepest of loves to the deepest of heartbreaks, prom night is supposed to be a night of enchantment that transcends the small confines of the teenage imagination. So Sharks, dust off your dance shoes and prepare to embark on “A Night Under the Stars” April 20.
This year’s prom will take place at the Alma Youth For Christ (2550 W Cheesman Rd, Alma) from 6 to 11, and will be catered by the well-known El Vaquero in Alma.
Before the event, students can capture some memories with their friends, families, and loved ones at the pre-prom photoshoot which will be held at Gratiot County District Courthouse (245 E Newark St, Ithaca) from 4 to 5:30 P.M..
Senior Dominick Girard shared his excitement about everything in regards to prom with, “I’m really sad that it’s my last prom, but I’m really excited for what this prom will hold for the attending student body!” Girard then dropped a few tips for those who plan on attending prom this year, and how they can enjoy the night to its fullest. “Don’t be afraid of going alone! Prom isn’t about just being with somebody, it’s about having fun. And for me, part of having fun is dressing up, so try to dress as nice as you can…without breaking the bank though! ”
St. Louis’ one and only Andrea Biehl has made it her goal to make this prom night the most memorable prom in SLHS’s history. “Our prom committee has been working to provide students with a delicious meal, great music, and a beautiful atmosphere. With our student body, it will for sure be the best prom ever!”
As the time is near, please remember that the pre-prom photoshoot is from 4-5:30 P.M.. But when the sun sets on students and their families, and the venue doors swing open, a world of twinkling stars and the finest food will be revealed for the prom at YFC. The event will be open to all ticket holders from 6 to 11 for a “Night Under the Stars.”
