The 2024 school year has seen lots of change, but mainly some new renovations in some areas of the campus. The modifications started with the woodshop having a whole new design and the wrestling room getting new ventilation, and these new additions will add new benefits to the students and teachers in their plans.
The woodshop has been under construction since summer break with the tearing down and remodeling of the old maintenance shop. Woodshop teacher Mr. Maxwell elaborated on the plans he made for the renovation. According to him, “The renovation is an important step for the growth of our program and for the safety of our students. The new shop will have a central dust collection system which will help the shop to be cleaner and less dust breathing in.” He then continued on saying it will be a positive step for the students. “The only side effect in the improvement is that the students will have to leave the main building of the high school to come out to the shop,” added Mr. Maxwell.
The wrestling room is also having modifications for practice by expanding the whole room, but mainly adjusting the ventilation in the room. “The wrestling room wasn’t originally meant for people to workout and practice in there so it was a huge problem that caused excess moisture. It was later determined that it was required to have a ventilation system. The goal is to make sure we have a well ventilated room that we can actually control the temperature so the condensation buildup is much less,” stated wrestling coach Kuhn.
Both renovations that were reported in this article will benefit students in their high school career, but most importantly, these renovations are still in progress and are hoped to finish for the next school year that is fastly approaching.
