St. Louis students recently enjoyed their time off during their spring break, which took place from Mar. 25-29. However, due to the weather conditions on Friday, March 22, students got an extra day off and reaped the benefits of the snow day. Whether they spent their break relaxing at home or vacationing at the beach, it is evident that both students and staff enjoyed their time off.
One student who spent her break away from home was sophomore Olesya Mullins. Mullins traveled to South Carolina, and was there from March 22-April 1. “My favorite part was seeing the alligators and going to the beach shops,” stated Mullins. While vacations are away from home, this doesn’t stop the family bonding. Mullins enjoyed her break relaxing on the beach and spending time with her mom.
While some students were relaxing on vacation, others didn’t travel far. Many students took day trips to places not too far away, or spent their time at home. One such student was sophomore Olivia Lane. In fact, she said, “I spent most of my time with my family. I went to Zap Zone with my boyfriend and my family.” Lane also expressed that although students did get an extra day off due to the snow day, she wished for an even longer break. Lane did enjoy her time off, nevertheless. “I got to work more and make a good amount of money,” added Lane.
So, which is better? Spending break away on vacation, or relaxing at home? “I believe staying home is better because I get a chance to sleep in and play video games and read books. I could ask my friends to hang out, too,” remarked sophomore Skylar DuBois-Kleinhans. “Staying home is a good idea for me.”
While all of this can be true, there is another side to the argument as well. Many students prefer to travel during their break. One of these students is freshman Kylee Riley. In fact, she said, “Traveling is better because I sat at home all spring break and did nothing.”
