The Shark Scene, produced by St. Louis High School students, is filled with many articles on a variety of topics. With a class of students dedicated to the cause, it leads to the question: Does anyone read the school newspaper?
The Shark Scene has been around since 2018, and hundreds of articles are produced yearly. The students have to work inside and outside of the classroom, and this includes interviewing other students, writing the actual article, and taking photos at extracurricular events.
With there being news, opinions, features, sports, entertainment, galleries, and videos, it seems like there is a category for everyone. Senior Rowan Harris is the editor of the paper and she uploads every article, photo, and video to the page. Her dedication to the class has kept the Shark Scene running at a prestigious level.
Senior Olivia Good, and former writer for the Shark Scene, had lots to say about the newspaper. She stated, “I read the school newspaper most of the time. I usually do it when I know an article that has been written pertains to me or I gave a quote for an article. I think all of the writers really put a lot of effort into the stories they produce. I wish more people appreciated them and their hard work.” Additionally, Rebekah Ross stated, “I feel like the articles are entertaining, and they’re good at updating what is going on. I like reading people’s opinions. And I am looking forward to reading future articles!”
The verdict seems that many students in the halls of SLHS support the Shark Scene, and keep up with the articles. However, students aren’t the only ones who check up on Shark Scene. Mrs. March, a secretary at SLHS stated, “I occasionally look at the Shark Scene. I especially like looking at the galleries!”
Many articles are to come on the Shark Scene and suggestions are always welcome so the writers can keep producing articles that will interest the student body.
