The St. Louis varsity girls’ basketball team traveled to Nouvel Catholic Central Jan. 25, 2024, and beat the hosts 69-33.
The Sharks have added another conference win to their tally. Additionally, they have improved their record to 11-3 and are looking strong for the season. The Sharks are a force to be reckoned with, and they don’t plan to stop now.
A few outstanding performances on the day led the Sharks to their well-deserved victory. Senior Josie Schrot had a season-high of 29, while Natalee Hoyt brought home a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Zoey Clarke secured eight points and five rebounds. Halle Hoyt also had an impressive night with four steals and three assists, and Jaiden Dickman racked up seven rebounds, two steals, and three points.
Natalee Hoyt stated, “I think that I played pretty well. There are definitely some things I can improve on but overall I had a good game. Also, I think that we played well considering Knauf wasn’t there and we didn’t know how it would go. We had to put it aside and focus on what we could control.” Additionally, Lauren Gager, a videographer on the basketball team, stated, “I think the game went really well. Their defense was super good, and Josie was on it with her threes. They were moving the ball around well, and Nouvel couldn’t set up a lot of plays. It was one of their best games yet!”
The Sharks are well into the season and they have their sights set on a district and conference title. With their dedication to the sport and the effort they are putting in, this is a big and exciting possibility for them.
The ladies will be back in action Jan. 29, 2024, at Valley Lutheran where they will try to pick up another conference victory.
