In today’s society it is very common to see a phone of any kind or any technical device, for that matter, in someone’s hand. Technology is everywhere, and it is said that technology is ruining our world as it grows and we “shrink.”

Mrs. Biehl stated her thoughts on technology, “I don’t think that technology makes us less educated. I think that technology is a great tool, and I also think that as teacher, it’s a part of our job to teach you guys how to have access to technology, but to still stay focused with it around. Parents absolutely should limit their kids with the amount of technology that they consume. With my own kids, it’s very important to be well- rounded but again I feel like I need to teach, especially Dot right now because she’s seven, that you can use it and it can be a reward. However, there’s so much other stuff that’s enjoyable and beneficial that you can do. I feel like technology certainly does decrease the amount of interaction that people have, but me personally, I have access to multiple things, but it doesn’t affect the way I interact with people so I just feel like you have to learn how to manage it in your life.”

Desarae Campbell also chimed in and stated, “I think that technology is ruining the upcoming generations because even my little cousins are always attached to their phone. When I was their age, I was outside working in the shop or just doing what little kids should be doing outside; not staying inside and watching youtube. They act the way I acted when I was around ten-years-old because they watch Jake Paul and all that stuff and I think it might be a stereotype,  but I personally think that technology brainwashes them. I just don’t think that they should be on their phone watching videos all the time. I think that they should be outside doing things like little kids should be doing. I think that we would be much better off mentally and physically if we didn’t have technology because a lot of bullying goes on with any type of social media; Instagram, Snapchat, etc. Also if you see someone that is “having a better life than you” or is “prettier than you” then you immediately become more insecure and it can even lead to depression. That’s why when a lot of people say that they’re going through a tough time, they delete social media for awhile because I think that it does help a lot.”

All in all, everyone has different opinions on if technology is beneficial or not.
