The St. Louis junior varsity bowling team competed at PINS in Ithaca Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 6:00 p.m. against itself!
While this may seem unusual, this year the JV bowling team is co-ed, and split into the “A” team and “B” team. Therefore, at some matches, St. Louis bowls against itself! At the end of the match, though, the “A” team came out on top.
Sophomore and “A” team member Leia Firman commented, “It was a really interesting match, playing against our own teammates.”
Playing against one’s own teammate might be a little intimidating for some students, but for others, it was no sweat. Fellow sophomore and member of the “A” team Hayden Mader actually found the match to be interesting! “It was fun,” shared the bowler. “Getting to play against my own team was an interesting challenge. I bowl with these people basically daily, so it was sort of a test of skill.”
The aspect of dividing a team into two to play against each other is quite interesting, and many bowlers shared that they would do it again.
“I don’t think we have another match where we will bowl against each other this year, but in future seasons, I hope to do it!” exclaimed Firman.
“I mostly just liked playing against my brother,” joked Mader. “It was fun beating him.”
With the conclusion of this match, though, the bowling team is on a pretty good track! The “A” team has gone undefeated this season, and the “B” team is bowling strong as well. The JV bowling team will be back in action Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Sanford.
