The junior varsity bowling teams had their first matches Tuesday, Dec. 5, and both teams came away victorious.
There have been some changes to the junior varsity bowling teams this year, as they are now co-ed, and there is also an “A” and a “B” team as well. The JV “A” team faced off against Bullock Creek JV and won 19 to 11. The JV “B” team was matched up against Breckenridge JV, and came away with a score of 26 to 4.
Second year bowler Harley Mader had a great performance that night, having individual scores of 115 and 142. In fact, he said, “I felt pretty good and I thought our team would win, and we did.” Mader also added that he enjoyed having fun at the match.
While there are some returning players on the JV teams, many members are newcomers. One of these players is sophomore Leia Firman. While she was initially nervous for the match, she ended up enjoying herself and having a great time with her friends. She said, “At first I was extremely anxious and nervous, but then I started to have fun and be more calm. I really did enjoy it, everyone was so nice and friendly and I had an amazing time.” Firman was also extremely excited to have bowled her first strike at the match.
Another first year bowler, freshman Bryce Buchanan is also eager for this season. In fact, he said, “The first match was fun. I think I did pretty good.” Buchanan also shared a fun moment from the night. “At some point in between our first and second Peterson, we started to dance for no reason. It was really funny,” stated Buchanan.
Both the JV and varsity bowling teams were in action Dec. 9. The JV teams competed at the Riverwood bowling alley in Mt. Pleasant while the varsity teams played at the Pins bowling alley in Ithaca.
