The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has officially hit the theaters, and St. Louis High School students are excited to share their opinions.
The Hunger Games series consists of five movies now, all being hits in the box office. The Hunger Games movies are mainly about the 12 districts being forced to send a male and female tribute between the ages of 12 and 18 to fight to the death in the arena for The Hunger Games.
This new addition to the series has received lots of attention on social media, setting expectations high for viewers. Senior Lauren Gager and avid The Hunger Games fan thinks the new movie absolutely lived up to expectations. In fact, she said, “I really loved the movie and it was a million times better than I ever expected it to be. After watching the movie, everything made sense. I think it definitely lived up to the hype it is getting because the acting was amazing, the casting was really great, and the overall story made me think about all of the connection it had to the original series.”
Another positive opinion of this new film belongs to sophomore Skylar DuBois. He felt “surprised and amazed” about the movie. He said, “It was a great and wonderful movie even though it was my first ever movie I have ever watched of The Hunger Games series. Ever since the trailer was out, everyone was so hyped about the movie coming out, but at first I had no interest in it.” DuBois later explained that he did enjoy the movie after all. Sophomore Breanna Adams would like to add, “The movie was okay. The best part was young President Snow. He is like, super duper scrumptious.”
Many people have been sharing their opinion of this movie on platforms such as TikTok. Some even created filters on Tiktok that tell people things such as what district one might be in, celebrity The Hunger Games, rankings of the characters, and more. It would be accurate to say that The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a hit not only at SLHS, but for The Hunger Games fans all over the world.
