It is that time of the year again, as the Magic card game is back in St. Louis High School, as of Oct. 27 in Mrs. Schutt’s room.
Magic: the Gathering is a card game in which players battle an opponent to win fierce fights and claim victory over each other in a one-on-one card battle. Each player will have a deck of cards to use in the battle to achieve victory. Each card is different and has different uses to defeat the opponents, who also have different cards, as well as different strategies. A special style in Magic :the Gathering is that there are different sets that have different styles of playing.
Members of the club can either be experienced or new, but one member, sophomore Jake Elsea, is a very experienced player. He said,”I have about three members in my group: Noah Bobzien, Mrs. Schutt, and her son. We played a game of Magic, and I used one of my cards to steal their stuff. Magic is complex, but once you get a hang of it, it becomes fun.”
Ms. Schutt, Magic: the Gathering club organizer, enjoys playing with other students, as well as her son. She states, “I think the club is really fun, but I do look forward to new people to come and see how it goes. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a deck, it will be provided and you can learn by playing. We meet every other Friday at 3:15 and last until 4:30.”
One can go to Magic to learn new experiences as well as play a new card game. Even though Magic is every other Friday, D&D is also every other Friday and students are welcome to come and play with the other students while also experiencing new things or coming back to have fun.
