The wrestling program recently expanded the team’s wrestling room for the upcoming season!
Coach Kuhn is looking forward to this upcoming wrestling season, and he is also extremely grateful for the added space for the team to utilize in the future. The added space is 24 by 13.5 feet, so roughly 325 square feet extra for the team to use. The space was previously used for storage. The size of the storage room was the size of half the wall in the wrestling room, so one half wall was removed and then the cabinets were moved out. Coach Kuhn explained how this extra space was given to the wrestling program. He said, “When they looked at the school needs for the new bond, they were going to have to get in here to work on stuff anyway. So they looked at the space, and they know that it’s dangerous when you have kids in a combat sport in a crowded room. Adding square footage when possible makes sense.”
Sophomore wrestler Olesya Mullins is pumped for this new expansion. In fact, she said, “I’m super excited for the expansion because last year it was so crowded in the room. I feel like it would benefit the team a lot because we can do more stuff now that we’re not on top of each other.” Mullins also stated how excited she is for the upcoming wrestling season, and she loved how great the team bonded during last season.
At this point one may be wondering where this sudden extra space came from. The truth of it is that it was previously used as a storage room for many different activities. Athletic Administrative Assistant Beth Russell is up to date with the progress of this project. In fact, she said, “That was storage for student council, the athletic office, the high school office. We stored old uniforms in there, memorabilia, so everyone had a little bit of stuff in there. A lot of graduation stuff was stored in there as well.” All of this that was previously found in that storage room is now relocated to its appropriate location in various storage spots around the school.
