The Saint Louis cross country ran the final All-TVC in Birch Run Oct. 17 and it was a great experience overall. The team achieved a season’s best and many personal bests, as the boy’s team finished third place and the girls finished fifth place. The lead runners for the Sharks were Ben March and Landon Pestrue. Also, congratulations to Ben March and Landon Pestrue as they moved up the “St. Louis XC Top 25.” March moved up to second on the list, and Pestrue moved up to take the number five spot.
Not only did Ben March move up on the Top 25, he came within two seconds of breaking the school record. Also, congratulations to Hayden Shattuck, Alex Rodrigez, Colin Kuhn, Abby Dice for earning a third team All-TVC. Earning first team were March, Pestrue, and Jaiden Dickman.
March placed second overall with a time of 15:40, and thought he did well, especially since he thought the course was kinda hard. “I feel good knowing I’m close to the school record because I know I can achieve it now,” shared March. “I feels like I need to continue to work on getting out faster and getting into a good position, but I also feel like his two-mile was a lot better than the past.”
Jaiden Dickman said, “I thought I did okay even though my time was 19:34, but I feel like I could have done better in the middle of the race.”
The team is back in action for regionals Friday, Oct. 27, in Shepherd.
