The Sharks cross country teams ran a good few races throughout the week of Oct. 9, including the third TVC Blue Jamboree and the Greater Lansing Championship. The TVC Jamboree was Tuesday, Oct. 10, and the Greater Lansing Championship was run Saturday, Oct. 14. Both races resulted in big successes for the Sharks.
At the TVC Jamboree, several accolades were given to runners. Some of the best performances included Colin Kuhn, Alex Rodriguez, Hayden Shattuck, Natalie Lemert, and Lilly Mann, all taking second team all-conference. Coming in first team all-conference were several other runners, including Landon Pestrue, Abby Dice, and Jaiden Dickman. One student in particular, senior Ben March, earned overall individual conference champion.
At the Greater Lansing Championship, some hardships were faced by the team. Luckily, though, several runners pulled through and became medalists, including seniors Jaiden Dickman and Ben March, and junior Landon Pestrue.
“We had a great week putting together a couple of excellent performances,” stated Coach Jay PuffPaff. “The progress that we are making is becoming evident and the athlete’s hard work and dedication is showing through.”
With the cross country season starting to wind down, the team is looking back over their season and reviewing how it’s been going.
“It is definitely hard knowing that this is my last chance to accomplish some of my goals for the year,” shared senior Ben March. “But this year has been full of amazing memories with the team, and in the end, that is all that matters.”
Fellow senior runner Jaiden Dickman shared this sentiment. “I’m looking forward to the end of the season,” Dickman explained. “It’s been really fun to be with my teammates and get closer with the team this year. I’m happy with all the accomplishments I’ve made.”
