The Saint Louis Sharks hosted a game against Hemlock, Oct. 12, unfortunately they didn’t do as good as they wanted. However, it was Senior Night; the seniors honored include Kylie Acker, Lauren Gager and Lucee Mikek.
Thursday, Oct. 12, was the last time the seniors would play in the Shark Tank. Acker tried really hard knowing it was her last time playing at home, so she played with no regrets. She commented, “My hits were really good, thanks to Mikek for giving me great sets to work with. I feel like the timing on my blocks could have been better, but I will continue to put in the work and get better.”
Freshman and Varsity player Paige Luneack thinks the team needs to work on getting their energy up even when the team is down. “I also think the team grew more together as a family,” Luneack stated. The team may have lost, but the girls had fun playing.
The JV team also suffered a tough loss that same night, however there were some positives. Sophomore and JV player Saige Chase said she personally doesn’t think she did very well, but she will continue to put in the work to get better. Chase feels like she could have done a better job with getting the ball faster. Chase thinks she serves her serves very well when she isn’t distracted.
Another JV player, Maya Massaway, thinks the team’s performance was good, but could have been better. Massaway thinks she did pretty good overall but made a few mistakes but also she said that’s what practice is for. Massaway thinks she could have worked on not getting her head when she makes a mistake because once she does that her performance goes downhill. Massaway thinks she did very well on blocking and watching the ball.
Overall, even though the Sharks didn’t do as well as they wanted, they will continue to get better for the next competitions.
