The St. Louis Girls’ Golf team attended the Michigan State Regionals meet Thursday, Oct. 12, hosted by Sacred Heart Academy at the Mt. Pleasant Country Course. The team was led by senior Natalee Hoyt, who shot a 96, followed by Emma Worthy, who shot a 107. The top three of the team was rounded out by senior Josie Schrot with a 113. The team’s head coach, Andrea Biehl, commented on Nat’s performance with, “I am very proud and excited for Nat to compete at the state finals. She has worked hard all season. Her consistency and calm attitude served her well at the regional competition and I am excited to see how she performs at the finals.”
Hoyt was the only member from the Sharks’ golf team to qualify for the state meet this year, having placed second last Thursday, she shared her thoughts with, “I’m really nervous, but equally as excited.” Thankfully, dealing with pressure in order to perform is nothing new to Hoyt, having hit a hole in one this season, as well as being a large contributor to the Sharks’ victory at the TVC Blue Championship Meet . But there is no point dwindling in the past when Hoyt has her eyes locked on the state title to finish out her senior season.
In the meantime, Hoyt has been dealing with her nervousness by hitting the range and green. “I’ve just been doing a lot of practice, a lot,” she added. Just because Hoyt was the only one from the team to qualify this year for state doesn’t mean that the work is done for everyone else on the team though. Her teammates Lauren Devine and Worthy have both been practicing with Hoyt in their freetime. Coach Biehl has also been working tirelessly to plan the official sendoff to state for Hoyt, and to officially recognize her accomplishments this season. Biehl stated, “We will be highlighting Nat with a season highlight recap and spirit tunnel this Thursday.”
You can watch Hoyt golf for her life Oct. 20-21, at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek.
