Seniors Charlie Lyon and Lucee Mikek were crowned as Homecoming king and queen after being announced Friday, Oct. 26 at halftime of the Homecoming football game.
The candidates for Homecoming queen were Jaiden Dickman, Lucee Mikek, and Myah Pitcher, and the king candidates were Curtis Brashaw, Dominic Girard, and Charlie Lyon. Junior Brynn Saxton commented, “I was glad to see that all of the senior candidates were deserving of king and queen. They represent our school well, so I honestly didn’t know who was going to be crowned.”
The whole student body voted upon Lyon and Mikek, and students and staff had a lot to say about the new king and queen. Student Madyson Hartman stated, “I think all the senior candidates were great, but I’m very happy that Charlie and Lucee won. I feel like they are great students to represent our school. They are nice and inviting, but most importantly they are always themselves.”
Mikek was on the Homecoming court her freshman year, and Lyon was elected as prom prince his junior year. The Class of 2024 has always trusted these students to represent their class. Lyon showed his appreciation for the title when he stated, “It was fun, I was very surprised. I didn’t think I was going to get it. It was cool getting it, but if I didn’t it wouldn’t have mattered. My favorite part of being on the court was the parade seeing all the people there and giving candy to the kids.”
Being Homecoming royalty doesn’t come without putting in years of hard work at school. Mikek is an active member of Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, and the Spanish Club. Along with that, she is a captain of the varsity volleyball team. Lyon is a member of Future Farmers of America, BPA, steel band, and he is an athlete on the track and field team.
Lyon and Mikek will be back next year to crown the Class of 2025’s Homecoming king and queen.
