The St. Louis Girls’ Golf team continued their three-year streak winning the TVC Blue Championship title for the last conference meet of the season Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at Bay City John Glenn.
Once again, the girls’ golf team has made history here at SLHS. Schrot is a three-time TVC Champion, the TVC runner-up was Natalee Hoyt, and third place in the conference went to Emma Worthy. The Sharks shot 390 on the day, which is the best score of the season. This was 12 strokes better than their previous best.
Coach Biehl showed her excitement for their victory by stating, “I’m very proud of my girls, but for some reason this year the focus is on regionals. It was a great moment of the season, and to have Nat, Josie, and Emma to be the top of the conference was huge!” Worthy commented, “I think the meet went great. I could have shot in the 80s, but I screwed up. I took third, and it was definitely an improvement from last year. I’m looking forward to regionals, and this was a great way to end the conference! Also, I’m going to make the most of the rest of the season because I’ll officially be done after it.”
The performances on the day were Schrot shot an 84, Worthy shot a 92, Hoyt shot a 96, Lauren Devine shot a 118, KC Beard shot a 119, and Grace Devine rounded out the group by shooting a 135. Out of those six performances, three of them were personal records. Schrot Pr’d by two strokes, Beard Pr’d by 11 strokes, and Lauren Devine Pr’d by three strokes. This greatly helped the team’s overall score.
The Lady Sharks will be back in action at regionals Oct. 12, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Country Club, where they hope to make school history again by taking a second regional title in a row. This could be their last meet of the season, but if they make it to the top three as a team or individually, their season will continue.
