The St. Louis varsity girls’ golf team competed against Ithaca and Alma in Ithaca, Sept. 26. This meet was different from others. This meet hit different holes to change things up.
Head coach of the Sharks, Andrea Biehl, said it was a great experience and a fun day.
The tournament included the contest of longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, a hit with the opposite hand, tee off from the sand, and a scramble hole. Senior KC Beard won the longest drive and also won the longest putt contest.
Senior Josie Schrot took second place overall and both Emma Worthy and Natalee Hoyt finished in the top ten.
Senior Emma Worthy said, “Unfortunately I didn’t do as well as I wanted, but it was a fun tournament.” Worthy’s favorite part of the day was when she finally got finished, because she thought it was a hard meet for her, even though she did very well.
Senior KC Beard said she did well, but she would have loved to do better. Beard also said she feels like she definitely drove better throughout the day. Beard added, “I should have taken my drive to the range more, but overall I did really well.”
This is Beard’s second year of golf and she definitely loves the sport too much to stop doing it. The Lady Sharks’ next competition is Wednesday at John Glenn, and it’s their final TVC Jamboree of the season.
