The St. Louis varsity girls’ golf team competed at their second TVC meet of the season Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Bay County Golf Course.
The Lady Sharks took third place at the TVC jamboree having a solid score of 416 on the day. The top two golfers on the team were Josie Schrot and Natalee Hoyt.
Schrot, a senior on the team, took second place overall with a score of 89. She tied her season record and had a great round. Taking third was Hoyt, with a score of 90. She set a new personal record by two strokes. Emma Worthy shot a 110, KC Beard shot a PR of 127, and Lauren Devine shot a 135 on the day.
Four-year varsity golfer Emma Worthy said, “I think the golf meet went great for the team, but personally for me I didn’t shoot the best score. Next meet I will focus more on golf.”
This is a team full of many seniors consisting of Natalee Hoyt, Josie Schrot, Emma Worthy, KC Beard, Aaliyah Villarreal, and Alecia Villarreal. When responding to her thoughts on it being her last season, Worthy said, “This being my last year is kind of upsetting because I won’t play for a team again. But luckily I can still play golf on the course for fun.”
The team has been working hard this season to improve their scores. Even though it’s early in the season, the girls are still putting up great scores at their meets. They have pushed through rain and shine, and their hard work is paying off. First-year golfer Alecia Villarreal showed her enjoyment for the season saying, “I’ve liked getting to experience golf this year. It has been very fun, and I like everyone on the team.” Additionally, Alecia’s twin, Aaliyah Villarreal, stated, “This season has been fun even with all of the weather setbacks. I’m excited to see where we can go from here.”
You can catch the girls in action Sept. 18, at the Lady Tullymore Invitational where they will tee off at 9 A.M.
