St. Louis High School Seniors celebrated the first day of school Monday, Aug. 28, on the football field at 6 A.M. by watching the sunrise together.
The “Senior Sunrise” was put together by the senior Student Council members Curtis Brashaw, Dominick Girard, Rowan Harris, and Rachel Jewell. Bradshaw was at the field with fellow senior Ben March at 12 A.M. with a tent and blankets. March said, “People brought a couch and Harrison started blaring 94/5 the Moose.” Another senior, Kylie Acker, commented on the event, “I enjoyed seeing everybody bright and early before school.” Brashaw added, “I came to the field at midnight with Ben March and set up a tent.” He also responded to how he thought the event went, “The turnout was great, and everyone had a great time.”
People started to arrive around 6 A.M. and brought snacks and games with them. Senior Harrison Miller brought a couch on the back of his truck and the Buchanan twins brought cornhole. Most people were wrapped in blankets and huddled together on the track as the sun rose. The event concluded around 7 A.M. as the seniors packed up and headed inside for the first day of school.
There are currently 249 school days left and seniors have other fun activities planned. These include the senior all-night party, Top Ten Tea, and four-year sports athletic banquet.
