SLHS Track and Field placed third for girls and sixth for boys in the small school division at the Shepherd Bluejay Invite.

The Saint Louis boys and girls track team competed at the Shepherd Bluejay Invite May 5, 2023. 

The girl’s team placed third in the small school division. Natalee Hoyt placed 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.64 and second in pole vault with a vault of 9 ‘6″. Brook Campbell placed seventh in shot put with a throw of 30’09”. Lillie Spencer placed ninth in shot put with a throw of 30’. Lilly Massaway placed sixth in long jump with a jump of 14’7”. Trinity Bergey and Bethany Bowerman had personal bests in long jump. Bethany Bowerman also had a personal best in high jump. Lillie Spencer had a personal best in discuss. Lilly Massaway and Lillie Shattuck both had season best in 300-meter hurdles. Trinity Bergey had a personal best in both 100 and 300-meter hurdles. Abby Dice had a personal best in the 3200-meter run. Natalie Lemert also had a personal best in the 1600-meter run. Abby Dice and Laney Pestrue both had season bests in the 1600-meter run, and Laney Pestrue also had a personal best in the 800-meter run. Aeralyn Leonard ran a personal best in the 400-meter dash. Mikayla Hagg had a personal best in the 200-meter dash. 

Kylie Acker shared, “I think the meet went pretty well. I was a few inches off of my PR, and it was a nice day to compete. Each person on the team worked hard to contribute, and I’m proud of us for that.”

The guys team placed sixth in the small school division. Trenton Farkas placed ninth in high jump with a jump of 5’7”. Landon Pestrue and Grant Bebow both had personal bests in the 3200-meter run. Joel Childs had a personal best in the 200 and 400-meter dashes. Harrison Miller had a personal best in the 300-meter hurdles. Alex Hardy had a personal best in shot put.  Ben March also ran a season best in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:51. 

Juniors Jaiden Dickman had the opportunity to run in the elite 3200-meter run. This is a prestigious race, athletes from all over the state and even out-of-state athletes came to compete. Jaiden Dickman ran a season best with a time of 11:33, and expressed, “It was a great experience to run against some of the best distance runners in the state. It was cool to run under the lights with the music playing. This is one of my favorite meets every year.”
