St. Louis Track and Field competed in its first outdoor track meet!

The Saint Louis boys and girls track team had their first conference meet April 12, 2023, at home against Valley Lutheran and Bullock Creek. 

The girls lost to Valley Lutheran 67-68 and won to Bullock Creek 78-59. On the guys side, they fell short to Bullock Creek 23-110 and Valley Lutheran 37-91. It was a tough day for both teams. The weather was warm, and it was the first outdoor meet of the season. 

Trenton Farkas placed second in high jump with a jump of 5’2” feet. Landon Pestrue took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.04 and second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:15.64. Ben March tied for first place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:57.94. Charlie Lyon placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 22.96. Harrison Miller took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.07. 

Lillie Massaway placed first in high jump with a jump of 14’5” feet. Natalee Hoyt placed first in pole vault with a vault of 8’06” feet and first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.62. Halle Hoyt placed second in pole vault with a vault of 7’ and third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.03. Payton Kuhn placed second in high jump with a jump of 4’2” feet. Bethany Bowerman placed third in high jump with a jump of 4’2”. Kylie Acker placed third in discuss with a throw of 78 feet. Brook Campbell placed second in shot put with a throw of 31’11” feet. Lilly Massaway took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 58.27. Lillie Shattuck placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.93. Kierstan Wenzlick placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.20. Natalie Lemert placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:46. Jaiden Dickman placed first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:52 and third in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:08. Laney Pestrue took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:06. 

Senior Tyson Head shared, “Wednesday was my first time throwing in a meet. It was really fun and windy which made it hard to throw. It took less of a toll because it wasn’t hot like Friday was.” 

Junior Jaiden Dickman said, “I think a lot of people performed well for their first track meet. I am excited to see how we can improve throughout the remainder of the season.”
