Homecoming week was full of many exciting and memorable events! To start off the week, the powderpuff football game took place Monday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. on the football field. The seniors and freshmen went head-to-head against the juniors and sophomores. The senior and freshmen team took the win 35-0. After the powderpuff game, the community bonfire took place. All the students gathered around the bonfire cheering, having fun, and getting ready for the rest of the week. The following night, the volleybuff game took place. The senior boys ended up coming out on top. This year was a great year for the seniors.

Thursday during advisory the students all came together to help decorate the school for the following day.

Friday was a very busy day, as the Poms and Cheerleading team went to the elementary schools and put shark tattoos on the youngers kids’ faces. Then at 1 o’clock was the homecoming assembly. Modestie Hitchcock was the MC of the assembly, and she stole the show.

According to Cameron Mizer, “This year’s assembly was one of the best yet. I did not stop laughing the entire time. Modestie did an outstanding job of keeping the audience involved. Joe Nash was the best part of it all when he came out in his pink fuzzy sheep suit and started “swimming” on the ground in the Simon Says game.” After school got out, everyone waited patiently for the rest of the night’s events. The parade started around 5:30 p.m. and the big football game followed.

At half time of the game, the first pom pon team performed for the first time this season. Emily Harrier said, “Given it was our first performance, I think we did a very good job. It was really cold and we were all shivering before we went on, but when we got done, we were all so proud of ourselves and each other.”  Following that was the performance by the band and then the King and Queen nominations. Cameron Mizer and Allison Taipalus were crowned King and Queen to conclude the homecoming week.
