The St. Louis Shark’s junior varsity football team played a tough game Oct. 3 at home against Beaverton where they played hard but unfortunately fell short to Beaverton 14–8.
Freshman quarterback Cole Grollimund said, “I think we played the best we’ve played all season. Our mindsets were there, and we should have won that game.” He then added, “We had 13 penalties which is too many for a game. Most of them were holding. We also need to work on better pass coverage. They caught about eight passes, two were big passes that we should have stopped. Other than that we played a great game.”
Another player, Dawson Acre, said, “I would say that we did not work as hard at practice like we should have, so this week we need to work hard, then on game day work twice as hard.” He later said, “Make it a fun practice, but work hard. Practice can’t always be fun without working hard.”
Lastly, player Gavin Yarnell said, “I think us as a team did a lot better than we have been doing in the past weeks, and it has been the best game so far. Especially with the short number of us we had, we did really well.” Yarnell then said, “I think the team’s correlation could be better and we should be more hype on the field and talk louder.”
Overall, The SLHS JV football team tried their best and worked hard and will be back in action again Oct. 10, away against Meridian.
